Text by Emily Dickinson

For SATB + Piano

'Hope' commissioned by The Hallé Workplace Choirs is a setting of the beautiful c.19 Emily Dickinson poem 'Hope is the thing with feathers'. Using extended metaphor, the poem portrays hope as a bird that lives within the human soul; this bird sings come rain or shine, gale or storm, good times or bad.
