The Apex Singers

Made up of 8 young vocalists, this Manchester-based ensemble pushes the boundaries of a cappella music through unique and innovative arrangements. Since their premiere in June 2019, they have headlined The Irish International A Cappella Festival, run workshops inspiring the next generation of vocalists, performed at events to raise money for national charities and created several music videos available on YouTube.

Directing the group is composer and vocalist Ollie Lambert, whose work has been commissioned and performed by choirs all around the UK, including the BBC Singers, Canterbury Cathedral Choir and the Hallé Youth Choirs.

The Apex Singers are commencing their new touring project, Hiraeth, that will explore folk traditions from across the world.

Hiraeth

Hiraeth brings together fresh arrangements of folk-tunes from different cultures representing every continent, from an African lullaby, to a vocalised Irish jig.

‘Hiraeth’ – Welsh word meaning ‘nostalgia’. A deep longing for home.

The Apex Singers would like to thank all those who, via their support of the group’s crowdfunding campaign, made the recording of this debut album possible.
